ESL Summer Camp Program Manager

Global Village Victoria is looking for a high-energy, English & Japanese-speaking Program Manager for our new Residential Summer program based at St Margaret’s School in Victoria. We are looking for an experienced and dynamic camp leader who loves working with kids and has experience with students aged 9-13 years. This new program will be operating daily from July 27-August 9 and will feature a combination of language classes, fun on-campus and off-campus activities, as well as integration into St Margaret’s day camp programs with local Victoria-area kids. In addition to the camp dates above, we also require an additional 5 days of camp planning and preparation from July 23 to 26 and 2 days of post-program review and final reporting.

General Job Description:
The Program Manager will report to the GV @ St. Margaret’s Summer Camp Director and will be responsible to ensure that our Japanese students are safe, happy, and fully participating in the program. The Program Manager will also be required to update agents / parents daily on the activities of the day, share photos and videos and respond to agent / parent questions or concerns.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Ensure the safety of students on activities and excursions.
• Contribute to a warm and student-friendly atmosphere within the camp and promote a positive school spirit among staff and students.
• Engage the students in a “learning adventure” by encouraging them to use English while participating in activities and learn as much as possible about Victoria and Canada.
• Follow all operation procedures.
• Attend briefings with the Program Director as required.
• Lead and animate activities and excursions.
• Assist in planning, development, and operation of activities and excursions.
• Keep accurate attendance lists before and after each activity transition.

Must have Qualifications & Training:
• Fluency in both Japanese and English
• Successful completion of criminal record check
• Experience working with young students in a summer camp environment
• First Aid Certification
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to demonstrate enthusiasm, patience, and flexibility
• Team-first mindset
• Knowledge of the Victoria area

Bonus Qualifications:
• Teaching degree or certification
• TESOL certification or equivalent
• Experience working with international students
• Korean speaker
